Ameris Bank announces Scott Sylvester as Charleston commercial banker

Ameris Bank Charleston Market President Charles Hudgens announced that Scott Sylvester has been named commercial banker in Charleston. In this role, Sylvester will work directly with business owners to grow business deposits and loans, and further develop commercial relationships.

In making the announcement, Hudgens stated, “With Scott’s extensive experience, we are confident that he will do an excellent job finding the right solutions to help our clients succeed.” He continued, “Scott is an exceptional banker and will help us nurture and expand our banking relationships in the Charleston area.”

Sylvester began his banking career in Deltona, Fla., and began working in the Charleston area in 1994. He has more than 27 years of commercial banking experience, including, managing a $70 million commercial loan portfolio, while preparing commercial financials and spreads for underwriting of complex commercial loans.

“I am honored to be a part of the Ameris Bank team and am looking forward to helping clients find the right products and strategies to achieve their individual goals,” said Sylvester.

Sylvester earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Michigan State University and his Master of Business Administration from Stetson University. He is also a Certified Financial Planner and has previously served as treasurer for Communities in Schools.

Sylvester and his wife, Jane, have resided in Mt. Pleasant for over 20 years. His daughter, Ashley, is a senior at College of Charleston.
